Books Info:

Due to mega hits like "Rivers of Babylon," "Daddy Cool," and "Sunny," Boney M. played a major role in the disco scene of the seventies. During their ten years of existence, they managed to have one musical success after another, and even nowadays, their most popular songs enjoy evergreen status and are repeatedly played at every disco party. Their success formula is based upon a special mix of music and show. With their unique combination of black and white pop music and Caribbean sounds accompanied by offbeat dancing sketches, they conquered the charts and brought German record producer Frank Farian many awards. In 1978, lead singer Liz Mitchell dazzled music lovers with her catchy disco songs and emotional ballads. Her song, "Mary's Boy Child", became the most successful and well-known Christmas song in the history of pop. The band even made it to the Guinness book of world records, with 2,2 million copies sold in four weeks and 175.000 singles dispatched in 24 hours. But this wasn't the only highlight in their amazing career. Boney M's worldwide success allowed them to be the first Western pop band ever to perform in the former Soviet Union's Red Square. Moreover, the Queen of England gave them a private audience to hand them the prestigious award "Most successful Pop Group in England of 1978". In 1986, the band broke up. Up to today, Boney M. has sold over 55 million records and 45 million singles around the world. One could decorate many a wall with their 800 gold and platinum albums. This high-end photo book is the most vivid homage to the band and the late seventies - an orgy of glittering clothes, brilliantly coloured costumes and sexy outfits.
