Golokwati: A Tidaltectics History of Our Thymes free pdf Golokwati embraces a way of interpreting the contemporary history of the Caribbean that affirms existence of an alter/native tradition and a basis on which to develop a more humanist Caribbean person. This collection of provocative essays range from a critique of Eurocentric analysis of Caribbean writing and thought to a defense of the author's home against the overwhelming pressure of development that privileges foreign interest at the expense of the traditional ways and rights of citizens. Environmental issues are also engaged. He links these contemporary issues to earlier instances of exploitation for black people. Through his multiple case studies, he etches a vivid picture of dialectical/tidalectics struggle. By his development of metaphor and imagery as well as semantic play, he brings his poetic sensibility and style to animate his contestion of the neo-liberal state and Eurocentric interpretations of Caribbean societies. Volume 1 concentrates on the crimes of commission and omission, the failure of Eurocentric scholarship and the contradictory tidalectic meaning of this creole civilization, with volume 2 as a powerful array of witness called to testify. Using his unusual 'sycorax' signature typography and spelling, Brathwaite brings a cultural specificity, with distinct accents, sonic gestures and pronunciations, into his pages, making them new, dramatic and textured. The magisterial work is also a detailed development of nation language.
