About Bevis Hillier

Bevis Hillier is a much loved figure in the British literary scene, who has published more than 30 books, including the celebrated official biography of the poet laureate, John Betjeman (John Murray 2004). Educated at Oxford University where he won the Gladstone Prize, he later joined The Times, became literary editor of The Connoisseur, and then of The Times Saturday Review. His most recent publication, The Virgin's Baby (Hopcyn Press 2013) tells the story of a famous scandal of the 1920s, with a typical mixture of scholarship and literary wit.
