About Silvia Sommers

Silvia Sommers, Psy.D., was born in Argentina. She is an author, clinical psychologist and mother of a preemie who, for nearly twenty years, has been working with families and children. She has received degrees in psychology in both her native country and United States. She enjoys working with both American and Hispanic communities. Dr. Sommers has been active in research related to high-risk pregnancies and the psychological impact of "prematurity" on parents. She is also the author of Your Preemie, a book for parents of premature babies. In that book, Dr. Sommers helps parents deal with the many challenges they will encounter on their journey toward the day when their baby is finally ready to come home. In addition to writing, Dr. Sommers works in intensive-care units, providing supportive therapy to parents and family members as they face the frightening and trying experience of caring for a child at risk. Dr. Sommers lives in Florida with her husband, Steven, and her beautiful daughter, Stephanie. La Dra. Silvia Sommers nacio en Argentina. Es escritora, psicologa y madre de una bebeprematura. Desde hace casi veinte anos, trabaja con familias y ninos. Obtuvo su Licenciatura en Psicologia en Argentina y su Doctorado en Psicologia Clinica en Estados Unidos. Disfruta de su trabajo tanto con la comunidad americana como la comunidad hispana. La Dra.
