About Michael Anthony

Michael Anthony was born in the little southeastern village of Mayaro, Trinidad, in February 1930. Most of his fiction reflects that village and its people. He lived in London from 1954 to 1968 and returned to Trinidad in 1970 via a brief sojourn in Brazil. To date he has written 26 books, both fiction and non-fiction. Green Days by the River, is currently being filmed by the Trinidad Workshop Theatre. He received a British Arts Council award in 1969, and in 1979 he was awarded the Humming-Bird Medal (Gold) of Trinidad and Tobago. In 2003 the University of the West Indies conferred upon him an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters. Anthony is married and has four children.
