Books Info:

A Glimpse of Eternal Snows free pdf This is the autobiographical story of an English doctor who, a month after the birth of her second child, returns to Nepal. The book describes what drives her to ignore the admonitions of doctors and their gloomy prognostications about her son. She hopes Nepal will allow her child to live in dignity and happiness. In Nepal, life is no longer dominated by hospitals and the parents learn from the accepting attitudes of the locals. The setting is dramatic Himalayan scenery with its rich sub-tropical wildlife and exotic smells and sounds. "A group of giggling Nepali mothers gathered around to see my five-week-old...'How beautiful', 'Such soft white skin'...This was the first time strangers had admired my new baby, and at that moment I knew that it had been right to flee England".

About Jane Wilson-Howarth

As a child Dr Jane Wilson-Howarth dreamed of intrepid adventures, but she didn't really start exploring until - aged 22 and with a zoology degree - she organised an expedition to record the wildlife of Himalayan caves. Long, convoluted story, but this led to a medical qualification, a husband, many more mountain trips and even some useful child-survival work in various remote parts of Asia. She now lives in Cambridge where she works as a GP, is medical director of a travel immunisation clinic and teaches on, among other things, an international health course. Jane writes extensively on travel and health. Her website www.wilson-howarth.com includes a photo gallery relating to this memoir- she tweets as @longdropdoc. This is her fifth book.
