The Will to Live PDF ePub eBook

Books Info:

The Will to Live free pdf The book is set in Sydney Australia 1944 to 1975 On 26th October 1963 a nineteen year old woman took an overdose of tablets believing she would die. She survived, and was sent to a psychiatric hospital - the first of many admissions over the next twelve years. When asked why she had tried to kill herself she told the psychiatrist "the need to die is stronger than the will to live." Jill had no way of explaining how nineteen years of abuse had left her with the feeling that if her life was miserable it was her fault, because she didn't know how to fix it. Jill grew up in post World War II Sydney. The home was dominated by an abusive, alcoholic gambling father and a mother who often could not cope. Everyone was a victim in some way - father by what he had experienced on active duty during the war, mother domestic violence and poverty, and Jill (one of three children) physically, sexually and psychologically abused.
