About Denis Hart

Denis Hart worked for over 16 years in residential childcare, eventually becoming the Head of the Regional Assessment Centre at Aycliffe, County Durham. He has taught at Bristol University, Nottingham Trent University and been a principal lecturer at the University of Teesside University since 1991. Denis has been interested in protecting vulnerable adults since the roll-out of No Secrets and has been involved in developing an accredited training programme for people from a variety of professions. He has published widely on using the law in social work and is the co-editor of Mental Health Nursing.Consultant Editor, Robert Adams, is Professor of Social Work at the University of Teesside. He has written and edited more than 80 books about social work and social policy, including several best-selling texts and the fourth edition of the international title Empowerment and Participation in Social Work, translated into Korean and Japanese.
