Criminology and Criminal Justice Systems of the World free pdf Dr. Peter Okoro Nwankwo, LLM, PhD, is an associate professor of criminology, law and justice at Mississippi Valley State University. He was born in Amagu Oshiri, Onicha local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Nwankwo received BS and BA degrees in criminal justice and psychology from the University of Illinois. While at the University of Illinois, he surveyed the Nigerian prisons and recommended a serious improvement. His findings were published in the Nigerian magazine The Arrow and Time Magazine in London. In 1988, he received an MS in criminal justice and corrections from Chicago State University and finally a PhD from the School of Criminology at Florida State University. In addition to receiving an Abia state of Nigeria's honor scholarship award for 1984-1993, Nwankwo has published widely in local and international journals, especially in the popular newspapers such as The Punch and The Times in Nigeria. Also while at Florida State University, he was awarded the Leslie N. Wilson scholarship and the Delores Auzenne Assistantship Award. After working with the juvenile Detention Center at Goshen, New York, as a counselor from 1995 to 1997, Nwankwo began teaching at Florida Memorial College, now Florida Memorial University, in the fall of 1998, where he created the criminology program. In the spring of 2003, Nwankwo received an LLM from Saint Thomas University College of Law in Miami, Florida. Nwankwo is presently working on a manuscript for his next book, entitled Criminal Justice Systems of the World, Volume II. He plans to continue publishing in areas of social and economic change, colonialism, comparative law, comparative criminal justice, and criminological theory. Nwankwo is an associate member of the American Correctional Association (ACA), and the American Society of Criminology (ASC). Nwankwo currently teaches graduate students at Mississippi Valley State University.
