Positive Nations and Communities free pdf Positive psychology, now in its second decade of development and application, is shifting inexorably from the personal realm to that of the collective, social sphere. This volume traces, for example, the progress so far towards realizing the goals of the millennial Akumal Manifesto, as well as bringing to life data, new ideas and deep reflections on the concepts of positive nations and positive communities. In an age where governance, macroeconomics, national wealth and growth, ecology, and social politics are all under scrutiny and making us rethink the connection between material and relational goods, the core concepts of positive psychology offer us strategies for evolving to a different level of social existence. They are relevant now more than ever, when the all-embracing capitalist paradigm, which once swept all before it, now seems financially, as well as intellectually and morally, bankrupt. The contributors to this volume argue that the notion of the 'moral character' of society is one whose time has come, and that it requires application to what is fast becoming a global cultural milieu. The fruit of scholarship from more than a dozen countries, this vital addition to the literature seeks to answer key questions such as: Is there a relationship between the quality and nature of governance and an individual's sense of well-being? What qualitative processes contribute to a positive nation and to good community life? And what strategies are we adopting to promote positive attitudes between nations?
