Books Info:

The Sense of Pleasure free pdf The Sense of Pleasure: A collection of still life paintings is a visually stunning collection of 71 European still life paintings dating from the 17 th and 18 th century and expresses the variety, abundance, nourishment, and pleasures nature has to offer. Throughout this period still life painting became a mode of artistic expression strongly favored by an ever-growing wealthy middle class. Infact, the great masters of this technique came from Italy, France and the Netherlands, all countries rich in food, commerce and trade. The book is divided into six interpretations of man's relationship to Nature. These categories are represented through paintings which characterize the human senses through careful depictions of animals and insects, and luscious portrayals of fruit and flowers. A unique school of art, the pieces in this collection of still life paintings were selected not only for their mastership but also richness in subject matter.
