About Tom Petherick

Tom's passion for plants began when he restored an organic coffee farm in Tamil Nadu, south India. This honed his interest in sustainable and organic issues and on his return, Tom joined Europe's largest garden restoration project at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. He has also restored two walled gardens in Dorset. In 2000 he became Horticultural Director (Designate) at Heligan. Tom runs a horticultural consultancy advising clients on organic methods of horticulture, permaculture and sustainable land use. He has written a weekly column - 'Kitchen Garden' - for the Saturday Times and a monthly column for Cornwall Today. His work appears regularly in publications such as Gardens Illustrated, Saga Magazine, Hortus and Country Smallholder. His books include 'Heligan, A Portrait of The Lost Gardens' (Weidenfeld
