The Risorgimento Collection, sold to the British Libraryby Fritz Haller in 1969, covers this period in the form of some600 letters, pamphlets, and books on the politics and history of this important period the Italian Risorgimento. The collection covers the period from 1848, when the regionalstates of Italy were struggling external oppression and internal strife, to the re-unification in 1880. Consisting of mainly 19th Century works (and 23 titles post1920), the collection includes many unique items letters byGaribaldi from 1846, for example, and rare commemorative issuesof local periodicals. Also included (largely in Italian) are detailed accounts ofindividual battles and campaigns, and information on the protagonists and events of this period in Italian history.
